Why Conservatives should vote for John McCain…I know that many Conservatives are less than thrilled by Republican Nominee John McCain and there are several issues with which we may disagree with him. HOWEVER, when we look at the alternatives, McCain is clearly the best choice and is, in fact, the only choice for us this November. Here are 5 big reasons why:Issue #1: National Security: John McCain has consistently supported aggressively prosecuting the War on Terror. He called for the surge long before his colleagues in Congress and even before the Bush Administration did. He understands the threat that Radical Islam poses to the
United States and is willing to stand up to that threat.
Both Hillary Clinton and Barack Hussein Obama have said they will begin pulling our troops out of
Iraq as soon as they take office regardless of the position on the ground and in spite of the success of the surge.
This would effectively conceded
Iraq to Al Qaeda and
Iran.
Obama has even said that he would sit down with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinijad…a man who has said he will wipe Israel off the map and has continued
Iran’s pursuit of a nuclear weapon despite UN resolutions and repeated condemnations by the international community. Sitting down and negotiating with leaders that have pledged to destroy us and destroy our allies and are actively working to fight our troops in
Iraq is appeasement pure and simple. Radical Islam sees negotiation as weakness. They only respect strength and the democrats do not understand that.Issue #2: The Supreme Court: John McCain has promised to appoint justices like Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas that will interpret the Framers’ intent (strict constructionists) as opposed to justices like former Chief Council the ACLU, Ruth Bader Ginsburg who was appointed by Bill Clinton, that legislate from the bench. For decades now the democrats have used the Supreme Court to impose their liberal agenda on
America and undermine the Judeo-Christian values our nation was built on. Liberal judges have banned prayer in public schools, have taken “Under God” out of the Pledge of Allegiance, and, worst of all, legalized abortion with Roe vs. Wade in 1973. Both Barack Hussein Obama and Hillary Clinton have promised to appoint liberal judges that will uphold Roe vs. Wade. Liberals have gone to court in an attempt to close
Guantanamo
Bay where we are holding the most dangerous terror suspects and if Obama or Hillary was elected, they will appoint judges that will weaken our national security by granting Constitutional rights to terrorists that want to destroy us. If Hillary or Obama get the opportunity to appoint these liberal judges, they can shape (and damage) our nation for generations to come.
Issue #3: The Economy: President Bush cut taxes in 2001 and 2003. As a result, our economy grew at unprecedented rate. Unemployment is still at historic lows. John McCain has promised to fight to make the Bush tax cuts permanent. As conservatives, we know that tax cuts help the economy because they allow Americans to keep more of their hard earned money. The economy functions better when Americans control their money and
Washington D.C. does not.
Both Obama and Hillary have said repeatedly that they would repeal the Bush tax cuts which would be a huge tax increase on the American people. They have both advocated a “windfall tax” on oil companies which would drive the price of gasoline even higher. They see bigger government, higher taxes and more regulation as the solution to every issue facing
America today. Issue #4: Abortion: John McCain has consistently been pro-life over the course of his career and has been willing to protect the unborn. Right now we have 4 strong conservatives on the Supreme Court. One more will give us a solid majority that may overturn Roe vs. Wade and return control of abortion laws to the people and their elected officials and take it away from unelected and unaccountable judges. Both Hillary and Obama have repeatedly said that they support abortion and oppose any limitations on abortion. They are opposed to parental notification laws. This means that young girls can make this huge decision without the input or knowledge of their parents. They opposed the ban on partial birth and late term abortions. Since Roe vs. Wade took abortion decisions away from the people, it is estimated that 40 million babies have been aborted. If Hillary or Obama are elected president, there will be no limitations whatsoever on abortion. We will continue to have no say on this issue and judges decide for us. Issue #5: Support for strong American allies like Israel: McCain has consistently supported Israel and understands that they are our closest friend and ally in the
Middle East. When Hillary’s husband was President he consistently pushed Israel to make concession after concession to the Palestinians including the disastrous Oslo Accords that required
Israel to recognize unrepentant terrorist, Yasser Arafat, as a head of state. In fact,
Clinton had Arafat as a guest at the White House more than he invited any other world leader.
Obama’s admitted spiritual mentor and friend, Reverend Jeremiah Wright, has made anti-Semitic and anti-Israeli comments and has honored legendary anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan with a lifetime achievement award. Obama has said he would meet with the leadership of Iran and Syria, both of which have pledged to destroy Israel and have supported terrorists that are attacking
Israel on a daily basis. We have seen what liberal think of
Israel. Former Democratic President Jimmy Carter called Israel an “
Apartheid
State” and met with leaders of the terrorist group Hamas. Neither Obama not Hillary would condemn the meeting. I have heard some Conservatives say that they are so unhappy with John McCain that they will stay home on Election Day so Hillary or Obama wins to “teach the republicans a lesson.” While that may give some degree of short-term satisfaction, I would ask conservatives to think of the nation as a whole. The stakes are too high and the amount of damage that Hillary or Obama could do is too great. Just imagine what Democratic Congressional Leaders Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi would have done to our nation without President Bush to stop them. If we had had a democrat in the White House the last 2 years, the tax cuts would have been repealed, we would have already surrendered in Iraq and the terrorists that we are holding in
Guantanamo may have been released.
It is time for Conservatives to rally behind Senator John McCain.
